Swiss Newsletter: Mistakes to avoid in Lucerne

Happy Weekend Reader

I often get the feeling that people come to Lucerne but only speed through and miss some of the best stuff.

Sure, the Chapel Bridge is amazing! (Did you know it's over 690 years old?)

But there is far more to Lucerne than many people don't see or experience.

So, let's see what Lucerne has to offer...

Schönes Wochenende

Ashley

LUCERNE: 7 Mistakes people make

I felt it was time to highlight some of the most common mistakes I see when people come to Lucerne...

BÜRgenStock & JAMES BOND

Most people know that James Bond spends a lot of his work time in Switzerland. Fighting evil henchmen, saving damsels in distress. But did you know he used to hang out on the Bürgenstock during Goldfinger!

And with a Glass Elevator on a vertical rock cliff, why would he not?

You can too, on a fantastic day out from Lucerne.

FACT OF THE DAY

LUCERNE ONCE HAD THREE COVERED WOODEN BRIDGES

The picture above shows a model in the Glacier Garden Museum in Lucerne.

If you look closely, you can see the three covered wooden bridges, only two of which are still there today (Chapel Bridge and Spreuer Bridge).

The longest bridge was along the lake to the St Leodegar church. It was removed to make more space along the lake, which if you walk along the promenade you will appreciate.

Previously you could walk from town to church without getting wet!

THE MOST EXPENSIVE SWISS CHOCOLATE?

Top-Notch Swiss Chocolate In Lucerne

You all know Lindt, and maybe even Cailler. But have you heard of Max? No, not Mad Max, Max the Chocolatier?

He has a small factory and stunning chocolate shop in Lucerne, where you can buy the most jaw-dropping chocolates.

They don't use palm oil and are all hand made, unlike many you will see in Switzerland!

So, yes, they are expensive! Don't worry, you can just window shop!

AND, there are even more crazy chocolates in Switzerland

5 May 2024 Sometimes I feel like I am scaring people Reader When I have my travel consultation calls with my clients, I always warn them to be prepared for the weather. That does not mean you can do anything on a rainy day. Instead you have to be just avoid heading up into the mountains and maybe do a city trip...
