Switzerland Newsletter: Best Views in Switzerland

Happy Sunday Reader

Sometimes getting the best views is hard work. And that is what this newsletter is all about - VIEWS!

Back in 2013, I went to South America with Ann for 6 months, and we both love hiking & views (which is why we live in Switzerland, in case you wondered).

One of the first places we went was to the Andes in Peru to see the spectacular Huay Huash mountains. They said it was a 10-day trek with some altitude thrown in.

But they didn't tell us how hard it would be!

One of the most stunning views was along a valley with three lakes, and the trail was so narrow the donkeys (carrying our stuff) had to go another way. Not a good sign.

At first it was ok, walking along the lakes. But slowly, as we ascended to over 4000m (12500 ft) we realised that the altitude was kicking our butts!

Every step was torture. I had never experienced anything like it. I was not sure I could even make it to the top. (Even though it was a walk in the park for our guide, he was even whistling!)

He finally took our packs to unburden us for the last push to the top, and eventually, we made it! At 4500m (14700 ft) the views were breathtaking. Even if we was shattered. Yes, sometimes getting the best views are hard (but it shouldn't be that hard!)

The views in Switzerland are far easier to get to, but sometimes you have to go a little out of your way. Many of the articles below will also reveal some hidden gems in popular places!
