Hey Reader

This intro is going to be short and sweet as I have had a crazy day today! I was up at 6am to have a Switzerland travel consulting call with a client on the West Coast. (Hi John if you are reading)

If you are struggling with your Swiss Trip planning, then maybe I can help?

So, inspired by my chat this morning I thought I would start out with some lakes. One of the biggest highlights of Switzerland

Ashley

My Favorite Lakes

It's hard to pick one lake in Switzerland, but I recommend heading out on Lake Lucerne, and if you are around Interlaken, then don't miss Lake Thun or Brienz. The views, the water color and the lakeside towns will blow you away!

You can combine Lake Lucerne with Pilatus (Goldren Round Trip) or Lake Brienz with the Brienzer Rothorn too.

SWISS FACT OF THE DAY

Switzerland has some of the cleanest water in the world. So clean, I once saw the Zurich Major on TV drinking from the Limmat River in the center of town!

How does this help you?

Well, you can drink from the tap (aka faucet) or use any of the local fountains around cities or towns. And ask for tap water at the restaurants and save yourself a load of money (it costs about 8-9 CHF for bottled water in many Zurich restaurants !!!)

SWISS Town

Vevey, Lake Geneva

On the subject of water, why not head down to the impressive Lake Geneva! One of the best towns along the lake is Vevey, home to the "big fork" and close to Montreux, the vineyards, Freddy Mercury, Charlie Chaplin, and more!

SWISS IMAGE OF THE DAY (Submit yours)

This is the top of the Männlichen Royal Walk, a strenuous but short hike from the Männlichen cable car above Wengen (and Grindelwald). I did this walk last year and it was absolutely stunning, as you can see :> You can also combine it with the walk from there to Kleine Scheidegg (in the distance). Hiking in Switzerland is something else!

MUSEUM OF THE DAY

Lindt Home of Chocolate

Do you like Swiss chocolate?

Stupid question, right?

Well, if you do, then this is an absolute must-see while in the Zurich area. Below is a link to a post I have on it, and here is the video

VIDEO OF THE DAY

Swiss Train Pass Guide

I know many of you are confused about Swiss Train Passes. This video gives you an overview of all the options and helps you figure out which one is right for your situation. Of course, if you are still confused, I do have a service to help.

5 May 2024 Sometimes I feel like I am scaring people Reader When I have my travel consultation calls with my clients, I always warn them to be prepared for the weather. I don't want to ruin people's vacation and only put clouds on the horizon, but the weather in Switzerland can be "mixed". So, it's best to be prepared. And have the right clothes too! That does not mean you can do anything on a rainy day. Instead you have to be just avoid heading up into the mountains and maybe do a city trip...
